While SBM problematic at initial cost.<p>Water based (WBM) drilling fluid has also been known to prevent swelling by adding certain additives. WBM type more environmentally friendly and low initial cost. Examples of this additives are KCL (potassium chloride), KCl-PHPA (Partially Hydralized Poly Acrylamide), silicate, glycol, and amine based fluid. However, this fluids is not always good so the hydration of clay will still occur and there are other problems. text |
