STUDY OF PUBLIC ROAD LIGHTING SUPPLY IN JAKARTA EAST AREA

Public road lighting constitutes an inseparable part of existence of road. Main purpose of road lighting is to yield speed, accuracy and eyesight comfort at night, to keep quality of sight distance and facilitates vehicle passing by quickly as well as pedestrian. Public road lighting function not only to ensure safety and rider comfort, especially to anticipate situation of nocturnal journey but also to increase area security or prevent criminality and give comfort and beauty of road area. Public road lighting covers lighting at artery road, collector road, local road and area road.<p>This study done to know actual condition of public road lighting supply in Jakarta East area. Measurement of lighting level at each sample street as according to classification function of road is done in all district by using illumination method. By using comparation analysis method can be checked actual illumination public road lighting as according to standard applied.<p>Result of study shows that existence of illumination does not flatten, so that in every street in district of Jakarta East has less illumination or too abundant based on standard applied. To get optimal illumination as according to reference applied, Jakarta East local government as an organizer of public road lighting infrastructure should execute consistently treatment efforts at all of point of public road lighting by cutting tree bough or leaf hindering illumination and replace dead lamp. Beside that, in management of public road lighting, Jakarta East local government must accommodate development pattern and concentration of activity centres, for example: New Primary Center East, selective industrial area of Pulo Gadung, Cakung, Ciracas and Pekayon, because road characteristic function will be improved in these area, which will influence to installation planning of public road lighting in Jakarta East area. <br />
