X-Plot method used for water saturation distribution can be developed for water cut prediction providing relative permeability curves.<p>Based on the considerations above, in this paper, we apply the X-Plot method and analyze to determine the water saturation, and for validating test of X-Plot’ results. Furthermore, method and procedure are developed to predict water cut performance based on X-Plot method using special core analysis (SCAL) data.<p>Determination of water saturation is carried out by the X-Plot method that needs filter of the Er versus X-Function plot that have already filtered. From the slope and intercept of that graphic, relative permeability curve and fractional flow curve can be obtained. Water saturation can be determined by substituting the water cut into the mathematical equation of fractional flow curve. Validating test of the X-Plot method is carried out by comparing between the water saturation of each time obtained from the fractional flow curve and simulator results. Prediction of water saturation is carried out based on the X-Plot method that is obtained from SCAL data by getting the mean value of relative permeability, and calculating the slope and intercept from relative permeability versus water saturation plot. Graphic of water cut versus recovery factor is obtained by substituting the slope and intercept of that plot, and substituting the initial water saturation data at the perforating interval in the well.<p>From the results, it can be concluded that X-Plot method is valid to be used to determine water saturation If a reservoir experiences a water drive mechanism either from injection wells or natural strong water drive and produces water cut more than 50%. For getting the fractional flow curve that is representative, the X-Plot filter is needed. Furthermore, we have successfully developed a suggested method for predicting water cut based on X-Plot method from the SCAL data. text
