Many innovative products will rush the market and provide the best value to consumers. Such products are made through complicated but efficient networks. Pertamina with its profit seeking petrochemical business is facing future, volatile, global scope and prospective challenges. Present condition indicates some fundamental and strategic problems arise in the business. Regulation matters, clarity of the current business strategy, plant operation performance, unsatisfactory petrochemical financial records, marketing and distribution policies are the evaluated subjects. Pertamina petrochemical needs to have core competencies that enables it to produce commodities with sustainable competitive advantages characteristics. Its core competencies in plant operation and product marketing/distribution are expected to meet three key succes factors, product leadership, operational excellence and customer intimacy. Petrochemical business strategy formulation is a process to obtain best alternatives for achieving high longterm company competitiveness. Pertamina petrochemical business strategy proposed involves two phases of implementation. Firstly, the empowerment phase and secondly the growth phase, both are meant to establish unique product value and world class company image. |
