This suggests that there may be a train wreck relation to the workload of employee support (ground crew). Workload evaluation is such an important things to do as an effort to reduce workplace accidents that will occur. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the workload that is owned by the ground crew and propose solutions related to the evaluation of the ground crew’s workload in PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI). Workload evaluation was performed by the approach to the fatigue concept, stress and sleepiness. These three concepts are used to using 4 tools that are questionnaires Swedish Occupational Fatigue Inventory (SOFI), Karolinska Sleepiness Scale (KSS), psychomotor Vigilance Test (PVT) and amylase levels using Cocorometer.

The study was showed that the workload of personnel ground crew classified in mid type, based on the results of measurements that have been carried out by using such as perception of fatigue, sleepiness, salivary amylase and reaction time from respondents. Based on the perception of fatigue, physical discomfort and lack of motivation are proven significantly different. Drowsiness level between before work and after work affects fatigue. Reaction time measurement results concluded that the average reaction time speeds 80% faster than standard, while based on the level of amylase which measures the stress level of the respondents stated that the ground crew employee has a condition that is very stressful even before work. These stress conditions then declines with hours of work done. The suggestion that shoud be given is the setting work hours and hours of extra work (if necessary), structuring work to optimize the layout of the range, call for rest and immediately implement the fatigue management. text |
