By using this method, we can calculate the optimum height for upward continuation. Although mathematically there is no optimal height, this method provides an objective procedure to calculate the most likely height for upward continuation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> First we created a synthesis model of 2D gravity using talwani 2D method. This synthesis models generated from anomalous objects near the surface (residual anomaly) and anomalies at depth (regional anomaly). Upward continuation in various heights applied to the synthesis model by using the convolution model of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). To calculate the optimal height of the upward continuation, performed with a maximum cross-correlation between the upward continuation of the synthesis model and the known regional anomaly. For an unknown regional field, optimum height was calculated from a series of crosscorrelations between the upward continuations at two successive heights. The maximum deflection of the average height of the crosscorrelation values produce optimal height for regional-residual separation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This method has been successfully applied to the model synthesis, and will be applied on the gravity data field. Upward continuation in different heights can also be seen the phase by using the semblance method that utilizes wavelet transform. text
