Based on Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) per ASTM E-415, the material of Axial Impeller is Aluminium Casting 355. Preliminary screening concluded that the failure cause of eroded blade was due to the impact of axial impeller turbofan with foreign object such as sand, gravel, and dust which is usually called as FOD (Foreign Object Damage). PT. GMF AeroAsia who held the DOA (Design Organization Approval) Certification class B from DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has an authorities to design or redesign the products, parts, or appliances. Based on DOA authorities, PT. GMF AeroAsia conducted research on repair development method for eroded blade of Impeller of Turbine Driven VaneAxial Fan. The special repair scheme on eroded blade of the Axial Impeller of Turbine Driven VaneAxial fan P/N 801414-2 is developed based on PQTR (Procedure Qualification Test Record) which includes welding process by Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) , heat treatment, Rockwell hardness testing, microhardness, destructive testing (Tension test), and non destructive testing (penetrant testing and radiography testing). Stress analysis is also conducted whether by using an analytical method due to centrifugal force and calculation by Finite Element Method to determine the static stresses due to the load caused by pressure, temperature, and centrifugal force. text
