Description
Summary:Problems related to impact of using cellular phone during driving car to fatigue’ driver has been realized. Althougth there are some traffic rules, this problem still occured frequently. Many individuals still drive their cars while using cellular phone in driving. This research was conducted to analyze impact of mental and physic fatigue and their interaction effect with using cellular phone during driving on reaction times. This research was also to reveal potency of those factors as accident’s cause.

An experiment was conducted that involved 24 workers. These respondents were split in to two groups : 12 workers whose works dominantly physical fatigue and 12 works whose works dominantly mental fatigue. Data collected were analyzed by using ANOVA, Tukey’s Test, and non-parametric statistic tests (Cochran Test and Chi-Square Two Samples Test).

The final results showed that ‘using cellular phone during driving car‘factor influenced ‘reaction time to change lane‘ significantly (Fcalculation (25.60) > Ftable (3.21)). Whereas, there were no siginificant difference for ‘type of fatigue‘ factor and interaction between ‘type of fatigue‘ factor and ‘using cellular phone during driving car‘ factor. Therefore, ‘type of fatigue‘ factor (Fcalculation (0,09) < Ftable (4,3)) and interaction between ‘type of fatigue‘ factor and ‘using cellular phone during driving car‘ factor (Fcalculation (0,06) < Ftable (3,21)) did not influence ‘reaction time to change lane‘ significantly. Afterward, result of Tukey’s Test showed that tested levels of ‘using cellular phone during driving car‘ factor (only driving, driving and receiving incoming calls, driving and sending short message) were different for each other. The results revealed that on average ‘using cellular

phone during driving car‘ factor and ‘type of fatigue‘ factor had big potential to cause accident.
