Summary: | The interest of this research is to obtaina selective membrane for separating a mixture of glucose and starchin solution. Membrane was prepared from a mixture of cellulosea cetate(CA) and silica fume(SF) in N,N-dimethylacetamide. The membrane was cast by phase in version method in water as nonsolvent. Characterization was carried out, such as measurement of permeability, permeselectivity and contact angle, analysis of functional group by Fourier Transform Infra red Spectrophotometer(FTIR), observation of surface and cross-section morphologyof the membrane by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and measurement of contact angle to reveal membrane surface properties. The results shows that the best performance was obtained for membrane having concentration ofCA: SF=8:1 (% w/w)with rejection towards starchand glucose of 62.20% and 0.73%, respectively, at operational pressure of 3 atm, with contact angle of62. 5 o and the flux towards water and starch-glucose solution of 10.59L hours-1m-2and4.89L hours-1m-2, respectively. |
