Description
Summary:Cement Industries is one of the industries that using thermal and power (electricity). Thermal energy is used for calcination of raw meal and clinkerization of oxides during sintering process. Electric energy is used by electric motor for driving fans, kilns, mills, and others rotating equipments. The main fuel of Indonesian cement industries is coal. However, with the higher price of coal, so it is important to find the alternative fuel which can reduce or

even to substitute the using of coal.

The aim of this research is to simulate combustion process which using coal and alternative fuel of palm waste in SLC (Separate Line Calciner) of 8620 TPD (Ton Per Day) clinker capacity of a cement industries. The numerical simulation using CFD (Computational Fluids Dynamics) software.

The result of the simulation process that with use only coal as a fuel is 24.24 TPh (Ton Per Hour) or 6.7337 kg/s, can burn 98.44% of coal with the raw meal calcination is around 63.26%, however by the feeding of palm waste

which result become various based on mass fraction of waste palm. In addition with the various of raw meal calcination, the combustion of coal and palm waste of course be various. From that, we can get the optimum value based on raw meal calcination and combusting of palm waste that is on the fraction of palm waste as 57%, which raw meal calcination and combusting of palm waste both 61.12% and 54.21%.
