Summary: | Brazil-nut effect is a phenomenon which contains different sizes of particles, and placed in a container which is given vertical vibration and will separate. The particle which has bigger size (intruder) will position on top, while the smaller sizes (bed granular) will positioned below. The circled styrofoam which occur from the observation duration of the rise-time intruder, wedged by the two 500 Rupiah coins, in vibration frequency range f = 15-25 Hz with peak-to-peak voltage Vpp fixed = 14 V and frequency range Vpp = 10-15 V with f fixed = 15 Hz has been done. The application on android-based smartphone can be used to calculate the average values of acceleration. It could be observed that the Brazil-nut effect will be happen if the value of the acceleration normalized Γ ≥ 1. There is a linier connection between the vibration amplitude A (in mm) with Vpp (in volt) is A = 0.0509Vpp + 0.5189. We performed two experiments with the Brazil-nut effect with the similar f and Vpp <br />
