Two main problems of construction on soft soil is the considerable high compressibility and low soil bearing capacity. One of the efforts to improve the soil to be investigated is soil stabilization by means of using cement and chemicals as additives. The type of soil used for stabilization is soft soil with dominant content of montmorillonite from Rimau Island,South Sumatera Cement content added to the soil is 2, 6,10 and 15 percent by dry weight with a curing time of 1,3, 7,14 and 21 days for Unconfined Compression Test and a curing time of 1, 3,7 and 14 days for consolidation test. Chemicals used for improving cement properties are NaOH, KOH and Na2CO3. Investigation results show increased strength for additional cement content, as well as for additional curing time with an optimum qu value of 0,3454 kg/cm2.Addition of chemicals does not significantly increased qu value higher than qu optimum value. During the consolidation experiments a decrease of Cc value was observed as expected in line with the addition of the cement content and chemicals additive especially KOH. text |
