Description
Summary:Parallel-Plate Waveguide (PPW) can be employed for characterizing microwave devices such as Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) and radar absorber. For that purpose, it needs an incident wave from excitation source that is illuminated to the PPW simulator by transmission line so there is a transition of waveform. Waveguide transducer (WG10) is used for this transition so there will be impedance mismatch problem. We propose some method to overcome the problem of impedance mismatch by utilizing step-tapered transitions between the waveguide transducer and the PPW. The numerical analysis with 3D software is intended to investigate the effect of the number of step in the taper, plate separation in PPW simulator and the taper length. The analysis result is then compared with the linear continuous taper transition. The parameters that will be analyzed for this purpose are S11, bandwidth and total wave impedance.
