Description
Summary:Due to the demand of road infrastructure increases in Indonesia, it needs an alternative technology having economically, effectively and efficiently results. Reused (recycling) the existing old pavement materials may be one solution. Although, it is important that to do repairing and improving its performance in pavement structure. One of technology that can be used either for repairing or improving the quality of recycling materials is foam bitumen.

The objective of this research is to evaluate the characteristics and learn the strength value of cold mix recycling base by foam bitumen using lime filler, and compare with field Core Drill. Several factors that influence the form of foam bitumen are “half life” and “expantion ratio”. On the other hand, in determining its strength performance uses ITS tests in the laboratory and Static Modulus analysis.

This research uses four types variation in levels of foam bitumen that is 2%, 2,5%, 3% and 3,5% with two types of lime filler content variation 1% and 1,5%. At levels of 1% lime filler derived optimum foam bitumen value of 2,5% and the value of ITS dry and ITS soaked respectively 186,34 KPa and 125,75 KPa, so that TSR value is 67,49%. While the lime filler content of 1,5% derived optimum foam bitumen value at 2,5% and the value of ITS dry and ITS soaked respectively 207,71 KPa and 168,17 KPa, so that TSR value is 80,96%.

Static modulus values are obtained for the lowest value of 627,54 MPa is at the level of foam bitumen content of 3,5% with filler content of 1,5%, while for 1% is got the value of 633,08 MPa. Static modulus values are obtained for the highest levels of optimum foam bitumen is 2,5% with filler content of 1,5% in the amount of 1.857,29 MPa and 1.268,62 MPa for filler content of 1%.

By using ITS tests, that’s got the sample from the field (Core Drill) on the Cirebon-Losari road project stationing Km 0+000 to Km 5+000, ITS values are obtained in the range 768,92 KPa to 995,84 KPA and have a higher value than ITS uses the value of the sample is made in the laboratory at levels of 2,5% foam bitumen. On the other hand, the mark of ITS laboratory on the standard of optimum foam bitumen is choosen for ITS dry is 207,71 KPa and ITS soaked is 168,17 KPa.
