Description
Summary:Filariasis is an infectious disease that may cause permanent disability to the infected human. This desease is caused by parasitic worms and transmitted by mosquitoes. In the accute case the infected persons will undergo swelling in parts of their body. Indonesia has several endemic regions of filariasis with different level of prevalences. One of the treatment which has been successfully implemented in some countries is the Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) mass treatment. This treatment which is implemented every year for the period of few years is able to kill microfilaria within human body and partially kills the macro filaria. Here in this final project, a host-vector model for transmission of filariasis is constructed, in which the treated people are separated in different compartments. The basic reproductive ratio of the dynamic before the treatment is obtained from the largest eigen value of the next generation matrix. Stability analysis of the disease free equilibrium and the existence of the endemic equilibria are shown. Numerical results are presented for various treatment scenarios and analysis of reappearance of the outbreak after the treatment is shown.
