Thermal energy is used in the process of pre-heating, calcination and sintering process (formation of clinker). Electrical energy is used for motors to drive the kiln, fans, mills and other driving tools. However, due to the price of coal that always increases, alternative fuels including ricehusk are suggested to be used in order to minimize both operation cost and coal demand. <br /> <br /> <br /> This study aims to simulate combustion and calcination process that occurs within kalsiner SLC using mixed fuel of coal and rice husk. The software that used in this simulation is FLUENT 6.3, which is one type of available Computational Fluid Dynamics software (CFD) in the market. <br /> <br /> <br /> Based on the simulation, it shows that if calsiner use only coal as a fuel, which is 6.63 kgs/s or 23.86 tons/hour, the combustion of coal will reach 99.2 percent and the degree of calcination that obtained is 81.3 percent. If mixed fuel of coal and rice husk are used as fuel in the calciner, the optimum point, namely 27 percent rice husk energy fraction which is equivalent of 14 tons/ hour ricehusk injected, the degree of calcination obtained were 79.63 percent and the coal and rice husk are burned respectively 97.7 percent and 66.4 percent. text
