DESIGN OF UNWINDER OF PLASTIC EXTRUSION- LAMINATION MACHINE

Extrusion-lamination machine is a piece of equipment that combines several plastic sheets into a single sheet. In this case, hot melted plastic will be poured between the plastic sheets to glue them. Extrusion lamination machine consists of four parts, namely the unwinder, extruder, laminator, and rewinder. The design was performed by <br /> <br /> <br /> four students with aids from PT. Norita Flexindo, a packaging company that is interested to develop the extrusion-lamination machine. This final project focus is the unwinder, which is the first component at the entry point of the extrusion-lamination machine. The purpose of unwinder is to release the plastic sheet from its roll. <br /> <br /> <br /> Design criteria for the unwinder design is as follows: capable to hold plastic rolls with diameter of 1200 mm, has two air shaft with width 1300 mm, and use turret mechanism. Based on the above, a three dimensional model was constructed and analyzed. The analysis includes calculating the forces, choosing bearing, calculating the life time of the bearing, choosing the motor, and the transmission. The analysis is also completed with manufacturing process design. Because of the limited funding, space, and resources, the prototype will not be manufactured. <br /> <br /> <br /> To summarize, in this final project, unwinder design for extrusion-lamination machine has been completed. In addition, the document includes the necessary engineering analysis, and manufacturing process design. Therefore, if PT. Norita Flexindo plans to embark on the production of the extrusion-lamination machine, this final project will provide the required information.
