Description
Summary:One of the research topics that are still being developed today is the heat transfer process that occurs in a nuclear reactor core. Heat transfer occurs in a nuclear reactor core covering natural, forced or combined convection. The role of natural, forced and combined convection in a nuclear reactor system are very important for safety systems. By knowing the characteristics of the natural, forced and combined convection we can analyze the reactor operating conditions and limitations. The reactor operating conditions and limitations are important for determining the normal operating condition of a nuclear reactor and its emergency action that has to be taken in the event of an accident. Although convection correlation equations, especially the one for natural convection is very important, its availability is still very low. This research is focused in observing the characteristics of natural, forced or combined convective heat transfer at a vertical sub channel with hexagonal arrangement of cylinders by using the FLUENT 6.3 computer software.

The objectives of this research is to find a correlation equation of natural, forced and combined convective heat transfers. The Correlation equation can be compared with experiments following this study. To support the results of

experiments carried out, so in this study will also do the design of the test model will be used in the experiment. Numerical simulations conducted in this study also uses the same test model that is used in the experiment.
