Description
Summary:Every fuel company always develops their diesel fuel product to make it thrive in the market. For that matter, the companies produce diesel fuel with determined specification to gain the preferred engine performance but still competitive in the market. The addition of additive often done to increase combustion quality, however in reality additive performance is severely affected by diesel fuel quality. To determine the effect of diesel fuel quality to M-700 additive performance on a diesel engine, an experiment is done using a type 186FG Huawei diesel engine and six different types of diesel fuel with different characteristic on six various loads. Meanwhile to evaluate additive performance is done using six steps of concentration based on the SFC’s. From the experiment result, the additions of additive for the equal concentration not always result in the same performance in each fuel type. This is because the fuel’s specification, for example; cetane number, and Low Heating Value (LHV) also determine the performance of M-700 additive. The highest increase from M-700 additive performance is gained from the fuel with lowest quality, and the less significant result is gained from the fuel with best quality.
