Summary: | WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a wireless broadband telecommunication protocol which refers to IEEE 802.16 standard. Compared to existing technology, WiMAX has advantages in broader coverage area, high speed data transfer, and variety of task at a time such as offering high speed internet, providing telephone service, transformation of data, video streaming, voice <br />

application, etc. IEEE 802.16 standard defines WiMAX implementation technology, but the MAC layer scheduling mechanism is not specifically stated. The scheduling <br />

mechanism is released to developers as one of the aspects that can determine the superiority between the developers. <br />

This final project is intended to design the sublayer of MAC layer, the Common Part Sublayer (CPS). The Common Part Sublayer function is to schedule packet data, addressing, allocate bandwidth for each connection, error detection mechanism, QoS guarantee, and encode PDU. Proposed program design consists of three independent parts, Burst Scheduler, MAC Buffer, and Burst Builder. With the independence characteristic, it is expected the program has more efficient use of resources and adds modularity to the program function. |
