Description
Summary:Indonesia is an agrarian country with spices in abundance, one of them is red onion. Nowadays, farmers no longer sell their onion crop in dry conditions only. Onions should be immediately transported by traders or cooperatives in

condition 4 days after harvest, so high tonnage of onions were weighed at the time. The side effect, onion traders have to take risks by carrying the red onion with consequences the onion are still in humid conditions when stored, either in trucks or in warehouses located in main market. This phenomenon is often encountered in these

conditions is the occurrence of decay and growth of shoots that result in the loss for the farmers / traders who store onions for a few days.

Based on this fact, the final task is trying to help solve the problem by designing a dryer which is implemented on the truck. When transported, onion dried simultaneously, so it can save time and improve the quality of onions.

In the end, with this system, found that the application of this drying system can increase the trader’s cash flow up to 13% for direct sales and can reduce the lose onion until 100% in indirect sales scheme/stockings. Subsequent effect, the farmers are able to sell onions with more quantity because traders can buy more in the same time (high repetition of buying).

We hope that this final task can be developed for other agricultural commodities, and can be applied to solve the existing problems in the agricultural community, especially the onion farmers.
