Description
Summary:Cu(II) and Ni (II) are heavy cations commonly found in electroplating waste. These cations are generally not easy to separate because their diameter is nearly the same.

This cause the modification of a material for the separation of these cations is not easy. In this experiment, the two kinds material separating of alumina-bentonite composite and nepheline used to separate a mixture of Cu(II) and Ni(II). In this study, it was found that nepheline is a better separating media for Ni (II) from binary mixture of Cu(II) and Ni(II) than alumina-bentonite composite. As comparison, the separation of a mixture of Cu(II) and Pb(II) was conducted. It was found that Pb(II) could be separated from the mixture using nepheline as well.
