In manufacturing of composite, there are many ways that we can do. It depends on the requirement of material composite that we are going to make. In this case, cost factor is affecting in manufacture that would be used. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Research in VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding) to form sandwich structure and laminate composite are developed. Lower cost by getting a better quality is the reason of choosing this method. This research uses one kind of core for sandwich structure case, two kind of fiber for laminate case, and three kind of matrix liquid. There are also some things that need to remember in this method, including the determination of inlet and outlet configuration, determination of pressure in the vacuum pump, and modification that applied in VARTM process to produce composite material with a good quality. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> As the final of research carried out a mechanical testing, a tensile testing for laminate composite and flatwise testing for sandwich structure composite. In laminate specimen case, a maximum stress at maximum load happened with the type of matrix MT-B. From the result of testing also proved that the hand lay-up method has a lower strength than the VARTM method to produce composite material with the same of matrix and fiber type. In flatwise specimen, all of them have a failure at core section, so the result of testing to find the strength of face and core bonding in sandwich structure case is failed. text
