Summary: | Jabodetabek region is an area with rapid growth population due to the increasing of economy activities. This devolepment causes drastic changes in field utilization system resulting environment degradation. Ciliwung-Cisadane Watershed located in Jabodetabek has significant changes in river flow characteristic. In rainy season, when the rainfall intensity is high, it wil cause big flood while in dry season water supply tends to decrease. Flood problem in Jabodetabek is very complex and it requires efforts to empower all potential to control it. One of the efforts is upgrading small lakes to flood control.

This study purposes to investigate the benefit of small lakes to flood control by measuring small lake effectiveness to reduce the peak of discharge. Small lake rehabilitation can be done by building embankment, river base normalization, and resizing the lake basin into the original condition.

Based on the hydrology analysis and reservoir routing, it shows that small lake rehabilitation can decrease the peak of discharge with Q25 as many as 11,46% until 19,67% in each small lake. In addition, small lake rehabilitation contributes to decrease flood in river basin as many as 0,51% for Ciliwung and 0,48% for Cisadane. The function of small lake to flood control in general is insignificant; however, it is very important to control local flood in downstream area, and it functions as water resource conservation. |
