Description
Summary:Indonesia is one of the largest rubber producing country in the world, it needs to be fully utilized, for it is necessary for mechanical testing of rubber materials, in order to know the nature and characteristics of the material and know the phenomenon that occurs in rubber.

In conducting this final project, the first writer to study literature, discussions with supervisors, to make test specimens, perform tests and a final analysis of data obtained.

Final project is about testing the mechanical properties and material characteristics of natural rubber NR (Natural Rubber) with hardness 30-35 and synthetic rubber NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) with hardness 80-85. There are

five types of test were conducted, namely a simple tensile test, relaxation test, upload-unload testing, cyclic testing and joint testing. The five types of test were

conducted on the level of strain rate (strain rate) is 0.01 / s to determine how far its influence on the nature and characteristics of the tested elastomers. Results obtained in the form of test data is then processed using Microsoft excel software that can display a graph.

Based on testing data, it can be seen that the material tested is a viscoelastic material, this is evidenced by the presence of Mullin effects, stress relaxation and hysteresis.
