Summary: | In this final assignment an end suction centrifugal pump is designed and the performance is simulated with capacity 5 L/s and head 9 m. The design consists of three step. First step is impeller design, which is using Stepanoff’s and Gullich’s methods for comparation. Second, blade profile design using “point by point method”. Third, design of volute casing using “constant moment of momentum method”.

Performance simulation is computationally by using Ansys CFX software with k-epsilon turbulence model in three rotating shaft 1270 rpm, 1450 rpm and 1650 rpm and three flow rates 4L/s, 5L/s and 6 L/s.

The results of simulation shows that flow characteristic curve occurs at flowrates 5 L/s and head 9.14 m as designed for 1450 rpm. But the optimum operation cannot be concluded because the simulation cannot shows shaft power to calculate efficiency. |
