Summary:A high level of Lead and Cadmium ions in water can contaminate environment. The tolerance limits of the ions in water according to the government regulation Number 82 of 2001, are 30 ppb for Lead and 10 ppb for Cadmium. Consequently, regular monitoring of the two ions in water must be done. Normally both ions is determined using AAS and ICP methods. Both methods require big instrument and complicated accessories. They cannot be used in field analysis. To overcome the problem we develop a simple copper amalgam electrode for determination of Lead and Cadmium using anodic stripping voltammetric technique. It was found that increasing deposition time and potential increase stripping current. Acetic buffer of pH 4,5 was the best supporting electrolyte for the measurement. The detection limit for Lead and Cadmium was 0,92 ppb and 0,75 ppb, respectively. Percent recovery of real sample analysis are 95-108% for Lead and 89-105% for Cadmium, showing good accuracy of the method.
