Description
Summary:In industrial world, diesel engine is the most widely used for converting energy. To be able to function, diesel engine consume fuel oil. The consumption of fuel oil growing by day, while fuel oil is a non renewable natural resource. To overcome this problem, diversification and conservation of fuel oil is needed. Examples of fuel diversification are using alternative fuels such as Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) and Biodiesel, meanwhile to conserve energy is by improving the efficiency of the diesel engine.

Increasing efficiency of diesel engine can be achieved in various ways, one of which is to improve the quality of the fuel by adding additive. The variety of additives are various for diferent type of fuel, so the test is usualy conducted seperately. Therefore performance test equipment that can test many types of fuels and additives in turn, economical and easy to compare the performance is needed, in this case, designing performance test equipment diesel engine with diesel fuel and Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) .

Based on theoretical analysis, the results of the design is able to test the performace of Solar and MFO with their own additives on a diesel engine with capacity of 3.204 kW and SFC 268 g / kWh. In the process of rinsing MFO, test equipment requires additional electrical power of 0.054 kW.
