Summary:S wave is a component of seismic waves which is responsible for construction failure when an eartquake occurs. For that reason, S wave velocity profiling is essential in geotechnical field. MASW (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves) method is a seismic method which makes use of surface waves to determine S wave velocity profile. An active MASW method is used in this study to determine the S wave velocity profile of soil that lays under Cikapundung River, Bandung. Based on the data processing using software Geopsy, we concluded that the soil under Cikapundung River consists of thick layers of sediments.
