Summary: | Turbocharger based microturbine power plant system can be one alternative solution to solve the electricity crisis. Therefore, testing of the microturbine power plant system is needed in order to know the performance of the system.
However, microturbine power plant previous researches have shown that the value of the microturbine power plant system efficiency is still low. Adding recuperator to existing systems is an alternative to improve the efficiency of
Recuperator can improve the efficiency of turbocharger based microturbine power plant system. This equipment can optimize the system so that its fuel consumption can be reduced by utilizing heat from exhaust wasted gas. Hot gas,

which is released from the turbine system as its exhaust gas, has high temperature and energy. Therefore, the heat energy of this gas can be used to heat cold air that enters the combustion chamber.
Turbocharger based microturbine power plant system that utilized a recuperator was successfully operated in a self-sustained condition. Its operating parameters were measured and then compared to similar data which is obatained from measurement of a similar system but does not have recuperator. This system with recuperator has maximum pressure of about 1,3 bar and has power of about 65,3 watt with 0,04% efficiency. While the system without recuperator
has maximum pressure of about 1,4 bar and has power of about 104,52 watt with 0,06% efficiency. Comparation results show that system with recuperator does not produce higher power than the system without recuperator. It is caused by pressure drop in recuperator.
