Different machine designs, construction, and extreme operational condition are some examples why the industrial world needs a better lubrication technology. One of the solution is making innovation in the oil additive field. Oil additive can give a special effect either on the metal surface or on the oil itself. A new and good known additive is a friction surface protection additive. This kind of additive can make a protection layer on the metal surface to reduce friction <br /> <br /> <br /> force, wear and extend the component operation hour. These addition also can give a better cooling performance, and protect the smooth surface from corrosion. On this experiment three different surface protection additive will be tested. They all claimed that the additive will make a protection layer on the metal surface. They are trying to complete the same purpose but with different kinds of layer and different mechanism. The experiment will be using ball bearing operated in the ambient temperature, 33 hours opeartion and maximum load 50 kg. Three additives will be <br /> <br /> <br /> tested on the same operation condition. The experiment result shows all additive reduce friction and wear on the <br /> <br /> <br /> bearing metal. The surface of inner race that operated with the addition of oil additive look smoother than without additive. Overall, with the presence of the additive, better lubrication performance can be reached. For several kind of additive, the effect can be detected in a certain operation hour. text |
