Description
Summary:
Abstrak
EFFECT OF PARKED VEHICLE ON SATURATION FLOW OF SIGNALISED INTERSECTION ( Case Study : Gatot Subroto - Nangka Intersection in Denpasar ) By : Jaya Wikrama, A.A.N.A, 1999, Bidang Khusus Rekayasa Transportasi, Program Studi Teknik Sipil, Program Pascasarjana, ITB.Parking and parking restrictions are known definitely to affect the saturation flow of signalised intersections, but more information is needed on the extent of this effect and how it occurs. The research described in this paper was undertaken primarily to evaluate quantitatively the relationship of parking to saturation flow of signalised intersections in the case of a single car parked in the intersections approach.
The research described here is intended to evaluate critically the effect of a single car parked in the intersections approach. Parking and unparking operations presumably contribute to reduction in saturation flow where parking is permitted. An empirical approach was used to evaluate quantitatively the effect of a single parked car in the intersection approach. Parking one car at a predetermined location, observing traffic behaviour, and comparing data thus obtained without parking should enable to evaluate the restriction effect of the parked car. The Westbound and Eastbound approach of Gatot Subroto - Nangka intersection in Denpasar was selected as the site for this research. All cycles were recorded under overloaded intersection conditions when a continuous reservoir of vehicles waiting to enter.
Data for no parking and parking at 35, 25 and 15 metres on the Westbound approach were collected on one day in July 1998, and the data for no parking and parking at 40, 30 and 20 metres on the Eastbound approach were also collected. The result of this study indicate that the effect of parked car on saturation flow under capacity conditions was found to be significant between , 15 metres to 56 metres from stopline, and appropriate to polynomial curve. Parking is permitted up to 56 metres from stopline.
