Description
Summary:High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) provides benefits from Line of Sight (LOS) signal that accepted by user. LOS signal will increase capacity and reduce errors in the

detection of bits that are sent. In contrast to terrestrial communications systems that are generally only from the scattering signal. On the other hand, technological developments Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) also provides progress in increasing capacity and bit rate. The merger between HAPS channel and MIMO is expected to be able to provide a communication system with greater capacity and smaller error detection.

This research will analyze the performance of MIMO Spatial Multiplexing (SM) 2 x 2 at 2.4 GHz HAPS Rician channel. MIMO SM systems to be analyzed using a detection Zero

Forcing (ZF), Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE), Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC), and Maximum Likelihood (ML). Performance of MIMO SM will be compared with the performance of Single Input Single Output (SISO), Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) 1 x 2, and Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO) 2 x 1 to see the performance of detection and channel capacity. The research was limited to flat fading

Rician channel and slow fading with uncorrelated antennas relationships.

The simulation results show that the MIMO SM channel capacity will be increased almost twice when compared with SISO, MISO, and SIMO that is up to 18 bits / s / Hz. And with ML detection mode , HAPS radius will increace to 141.78 km for 10-6 BER level.
