Activities of Coal Mining which is performed by PT. Bukit Asam in Muara Enim and Lahat Regencies are very significant to support economy activities at those area where the contribution of coal mining sector on PDRB of Muara Enim Regency in The Year 1995 was Rp 450.007 millions or 16.68% of it's total PDRB Rp1,621.70 millions. The same case also happened in Lahat Regency areal where the contribution of coal mining sector in the year 1995 was as much as Rp25.586 millions or 3.45% of the total PDRB which was Rp 741.105 millions. At the time where the activities of coal mining will be terminated because of the depleting deposit, this condition will have serious effect on the well being of development on those area, and will create negative impact on the areal. To lessen the negative impact it is necessary to find its alternative solution through performance of Structural Transformation of Post Coal Mining. The area of productive mining which consists of Developmental Areal of Tanjung Enim I, II and Tanjung Enim III in the year 1997 were 33590 Ha, while the area of the operational mining were 13088Ha, up to the year 2010 those areas in which the function will change from mining activties to non mining will be 12395 Ha, will be retainmed as mining operation area 693 Ha. Contribution in the post coal mining in the year 2010 on PDRB Muara Enim Regency will be as much as Rp 211296.35 millions or 9.01%, while of Lahat Regency at the same year will be Rp 12013.65 minions or 0.89%. Measures which will be taken during post mining structural trasformation to capabilities of human resources, to encourage agricultural business sector, industries and trade in those area, and the plan of the areal pattern in the mining areal will be adapted to the area of RUTR. Therefore, the study of post mining structural transformation should be prepared and be used as information in the decision of strategy of business level, and also for the local government.
