Geomorphology in research area has certain characteristic, such as mountain pattern, stream pattern, valley pattern, and plain pattern. These patterns are controlled by geological structure and lithology. The NW-SE and NE-SW rivers indicate the fractures found in research area. Base on surface and subsurface data, stratigraphy of research area can divided into 8 formation form old to young : Basement, Talang Akar Formation formed in Early Miocene consist of shale with dolomite intercalation, Baturaja Formation formed in Early Miocene consist of limestone and shale, Gumai Formation formed in Early Miocene with dominant
lithology is claystone, Air Benakat Formation (Interbedded of Sandstone and Claystone unit) formed in Early – Middle Miocene consist of sandstone and claystone interbedded, Muara Enim Formation (Claystone with Coal Intercalation unit and Tuffaceous Claystone unit) formed in Middle – Late Miocene consist of
claystone, coal and sandstone, Kasai Formation (Tuffaceous Sandstone Unit) formed in Pliocene consist of tuffaceous sandstone and Swamp Deposit Unit formed in Recen.
Structural geology that developed in research area are anticline that associated with flower structure system. Flower structure with NW-SE trend interpreted actived in Plio-Pleistocene because of folded that associated with this system involved formation that formed in Pliocene, while flower structure with NE-SW trend interpreted also actived in Plio-Pleistocene, but this system considered as reactivation of old faults that controlled the half graben. |
