In this final project, wind energy is extracted using a horizontal axis wind turbine, three bladed, 2 meter in diameter. The wind turbine is constructed as simple as possible so it can be placed on every single house. The wind turbine design based on design of manufacturability yet is able to extract the energy of the wind. We use both design and experimental as a research method. The testing of the wind turbine is subject to obtain the characteristic of the wind turbine at any given wind speed. The wind turbine produced 0.06 Watt at wind speed of 3-4 m/s. This result is unsatisfying, considering the maximum power that can be extracted from the rotor is 29-70 Watt at that wind speed. For future hold, design and performance of the rotor and the generator have to be improved. |
