GMF consider more economical procedure by manufacturing sleeve as single piece directly. The proposed procedure must satisfy acceptance criteria of strength and clearance. Due to the thermal condition the deformation must not exceed clearance of 0.7874 mm between sleeve’s surface and turbine’s impeller blade. Hardness test on the condemned part shows the degradation of strength from the expected normal 60 HRB (107 HV) into 10.8 HRB (69.4 HV). Metallography inspection indicates the possibility of overaging that cause the degradation. Finite element method is used to analyze stress distribution and the thermal expansion due to the operational condition. From the stress distribution and thermal expansion the analysis so the proposed procedure is better than the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> standard procedure. text |
