Seribu islands have potential resources which can support the islands’ social and economy development, such as tourism, fishery, mining, and marine biota cultivation. One way to support that indirectly is by conducting researches related with treatment and maintenance. One of many researches that can be conducted focuses on hydro-oceanography with its many aspects. Data collection such as sediment sampling and hydro-accoustic survey for hydro-oceanography researches in Seribu Island are complex task. Currently there is no system for organizing the data. While it is also important for the construction of geodatabase for the organizing of data which will be stored according to their functions or data. This undergraduate thesis trying to build a geodatabase development shown in the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-based web application for data related researches storage. This application is expected to help organize the data storage and data access to maximize spatial hydro-oceanographic research in the Thousand Islands. This research consisted of geodatabase development, web-based GIS application development, and database application development. The results of this research is a Web-based GIS system for the purposes of hydro-oceanographic research in the Thousand Islands by using software PostgreSQL / PostGIS and Mapserver.
