Separation of REE from the mineral is quite difficult because of the similarity of physical and chemical properties of each element. Solvent Impregnated Resin (SIR) is a separation method by amobilizing ligand in a polymer resin. In this experiment, derivative compound of pyrazolone, 4-sebacoylbis (H2SbBP) has been synthesized as a chelating agent and been trapped into Amberlite XAD-16 through Van der Waals interaction. H2SbBP synthesized by Jensen method, colored soft brown, purification yield was 98,24% with melting point 134–136 oC, soluble in chloroform, and showed characteristic peak of pyrazolone derivative ring. Capacity of XAD-16 in absorbing ligand was 112.53 mg/g resin. La3+ extracted the most in pH 3. As a result, SIR-H2SbBP’s capacity in extracting La3+ using column method in 1 mL/minute flow was found to be 3.4655 mg/g SIR. Recovery yield by stripping La3+ with HNO3 0.1 M was 78.20%. text
