Description
Summary:Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) is maintenance activities carried out by monitoring engine condition with measurement. The decision for repairing or dismantle

is according to monitoring results. This final project is beginning research at signal analysis that support monitoring machine condition. More specific, the research

conducted use sound measurement. The selected object is silent chain that drive a motorcycle engine calve mechanism. The aims of the research is to conclude procedures for measuring sound and using frequency domain analysis more specific.

For research object, uses testing device for sound measurement that have been developed by Mugi Laksono (2008). Before using, testing device has been improved

accordance Mugi Laksono evaluation. The improvement include repairing electrical circuit of power supply for inverter, replacement pad leverage, repairing dynamometer axis (holder of alternator), and alternator as load complement.

Measurement being carried out use simple microphone with a holder that better than the first version (Laksono, 2008). Data acquisition is done with help from sound card and MATLAB as software. The frequency domain analysis (FFT) was also performed with MATLAB.

Others than data analysis, in this final project also develop postulation about chain spectrum frequency with approach signal processing. The measurement result and

analysis confirm the postulate that have been formulated, in addition of compliance with literature. Thus, can be concluded the research has reached the desired target. For further research, will conduct chain damage simulation and mapping feature both in frequency and other domain.
