Mining Industry is an industry complied with high risks, consisting of geological risk, economical risk, technological risk and environmental risk. A trend existing now is about having the complexity of social aspect as one the risk that should be considered as an <br /> <br /> important non-technical risk and should be anticipated by giving priority on the solution of the risks. All of the risks can be anticipated by projecting the profit of the mineral resources as known. Therefore, in the effort of knowing the potential of the mineral resources and identifying the controls of nature and the both physically and social environment, an exploration activity should be done first and that is why the exploration of mining is an important activity that should be done before a mining exists. That activity should be broke down on several stages so that the risk of loosing more money can be reduced. The result of an exploration activity must give complete and accurate <br /> <br /> information about everything related to the potential and how to reduce every risk with a good anticipating management. Talking about social and environmental risk that are very happening nowadays, especially in an extractive industry such as Mining, a solution that considered as effective but has not familiar yet with the actors of mining is Corporate Social Responsibility <br /> <br /> (CSR). This is a concept of formulizing the risks on several anticipating design that sufficient. This research try to show how the ideal components of CSR in mining are integrated in the exploration stages, based on the analysis of the regional situation surrounds the regional of COW (Contract of Work) of PT. Freeport Indonesia in Papua. The components that will be integrated are: assessing social cohesion, building human capital, protecting the environment, encouraging good governance and strengthening economics. How the components written above are integrated in the each of the exploration stages is explained as follow: the Reconnaissance stage is integrated with social based line study and assessing social cohesion, the early exploration is integrated with: assessing social <br /> <br /> cohesion and building human capital. The detail exploration is integrated with: building human capital and protecting the environment, and then the last stage, feasibility study, is integrated with: protecting the environment and strengthening the economics. The more the CSR is planned and the more the preparation is made when an exploration activities is been done, the more the mining activity will be guaranteed for a long time.
