Summary:Various services have demanded advanced technology support in order to simplify network and service provisioning. IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) gives a new universal platform to the legacy telecommunication functionalities. One of the main functionalities on IMS is the charging system, which is in general devided into two types: online and offline. Basic function of a charging system is to collect information related to unit service usage which can then be <br /> <br /> <br /> used to bill the customer. The other function feature is the ability to easily control/set the policy for service access. Policy control is capable of limiting general network policies that a terminal can establish over an IMS network. In this final project, IMS testbed was implemented with some open source software that covers the integration of all supporting components, such as CSCFs, HSS, CDF and OCS, as well as, PCRF and PCEF inside the IMS network. <br /> <br /> <br /> Testing of charging functionality was done using IPTV service, whereas policy control functionality tested by audio service. Charging system is capable of detecting events on Application Server and has the ability to contact charging function to calculate how long user using the service. Policy control system has the ability to authorize general network policy. This final project shows how offline and online charging scheme work. Offline charging will start increment of time upon the occurrences of user’s <br /> <br /> <br /> events. On the contrary, online charging will start decreasing the time until user’s credit lack of minimum requirement and, then, terminate the service. This final <br /> <br /> <br /> project also shows the usage of policy control on IMS which could control the whole of user’s acces to the network related to domain, codec, and bandwidth used by user in audio service. Implementation these functionalities on IMS <br /> <br /> <br /> network was been carried out with connecting IPTV AS to CDF and OCS and PCSCF to PCRF and PCEF.
