Foam is a collection of small bubbles of air that accumulate in or on the surface of liquid. In lubricating oil, foam can cause lack of lubricant film on the contact surface. A lubricant oil that has severe foaming characteristics will lose its lubrication ability. This final project will make and test a foaming testing rig <br />

based on ASTM D892 standard. <br />

The test consists of three sequence with 8 sampel. The first and third sequences are successful, but the second sequence are failed. From the first sequence we will see that an used oil has more foaming create than the new one. <br />
<br />
<br />
The second sequence failed, total air volume of this sequence can not be measured because of unconstant debit. The third sequence result is almost identic with the first sequence. The foaming testing rig needs some modification, especially on difuser and measurement of total air volume parts, so the second sequence can be performed. <br />
