Description
Summary:The function of dredger in operation is to dredging, transporting, and mooving the materials from deep to surface. Because of this dredge will activate in sea operation, so to fulfill this requirement this ship need restoration and modification. One of some modifications is ladder modification which make it longer, so ladder can

be operated deeper than before. In this final assignment, to analysis ladder modification structure, the process are analysis catenary and number of buckets to be installed in every ladder position, analysis forces on the ladder, and FEM analysis of modification ladder structure.

To get the best buckets arrangement for every ladder position at 35 degrees,45 degrees and 55 degrees, can be gotten from catenary analysis using MATLAB 7.0 software. After that, the modification ladder structure is analyzed using Pro Engineer Wildfire 3.0.

The result of this analysis showed that the best buckets arrangement for every ladder position at 35 degrees,45 degrees and 55 degrees is 152 buckets. From the results of finite element analysis using Pro Engineer Wildfire 3.0 software, maximum of Von-Mises stress is 200,8 MPa (with 1,4 x force factor) and maximum deflection is 32,5 mm, this condition occur at ladder position 12 degrees. This result is safe if compare with allowable stres 260 MPa, and the safety factor is 1,29 (with 1,4 x force factor).
