The fertilizer is one of the very important supporting material for PT.Sang Hyang Seri, because this undertaking is active in production of seed-rice and hortyculture. The provision of fertilizer which is not according to the schedule will have severe impact on the plant. On the other side to keep the big amount of fertilizer, will cause unproductive invesment and aproximately will become a dead invesment for about 4-5 months. To improve the company\'s performance, the undertaking always has to introduce improvements, even the improvement is small. Improvement of fertilizer procurement system is very important, because fertilizer is one of the supporting material which consumed a big capital, more than 38% of the cost, and if wecompare to sales is more than 10%. An alternative way of supplying the fertilizer is proposed where the plan/ schedule is made to assure that the order will be fulfill on time and on the right quantity (just in time). To apply JIT on fertilizer procurement, the first step is to determine the area the rice field that will be cultivated. The factors that must be considered in definiting the area of the field are: ? Capital availability. * The market need. JIT gives many advantages such as : * The fertilizer cost can be suppressed because the stock is not excessive. * No cost to store the fertilizer. * No risk of damages or loosing fertilizer. The arrangement of the material is more simple.
