This is resulted in reduction of its potential as indicated by the decline of groundwater level. Some studies related to groundwater conditions in Bandung – Soreang Groundwater Basin concluded that the current groundwater conditions has shown critical condition. It is caused by the imbalance between its recharge and the exploitation. Based on the above conditions, further analysis about the condition of Bandung – Soreang Groundwater Basin needs to be conducted focusing on the natural recharge potential into the groundwater basin. <br /> <br /> <br /> The estimation of the natural recharge potential was carried out using two methods, namely water balance from FJ Mock and minimum discharge approach from Villinger. While the zoning of natural recharge potential was based on the Thiessen-Polygon. The results of the natural recharge potential were then incorporated into the groundwater modeling that has been made previously by the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of West Java in cooperation with research institutes ITB, 2000. This groundwater modeling is used to verify the estimation of natural recharge potential by comparison between the modeled and measured groundwater level. The groundwater measurement was conducted in December 2012 by the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of West Java. <br /> <br /> <br /> The result of natural recharge potential estimation according to the corresponding rainfall station zone are as follows: (1) Nanjung with an area of 1824 Km2, the natural recharge potential is 351 mm/yr; (2) Dayeuhkolot covers area about 925 Km2 with the natural recharge potential around 308 mm/yr; and (3) Majalaya with an area 233 Km2, the natural recharge potential is 290 mm/yr. <br /> <br /> <br /> According to the conditions of water balance in Bandung and its surroundings, it shows that infiltration in July to September is very small due to small rainfall, while evapotranspiration continues. The percentage of infiltration from rainfall following Mock methods ranges from 10,% to 20%. The verification results are then compared with actual data from measurements, which show that the model essentially follows the pattern of the decline groundwater level. The mean squared error between the modeled and the measured groundwater level for 216 points of observation in this research amounts to be 14.74 m for Mock and 5.51 m for Villinger method. text
