South coastal area Kulon Progo District is one of area which having potency the forming of element accumulation of iron in the form ironsand deposit. Therefore, need to be done research to know about geometry characteristic and potency of ironsand deposit in the location. Study done covers megascopic analysis (surface shape, deposition structures, deposit type), analysis of magnetism degree, microscopic analysis (polish section and grain counting), grade calculation of Fe element, pattern analysis as of spread correction, and resources calculation. Result of research indicates that ironsand deposit in location from equiamplitude surface downwards in the form deposit of sand, sand-gravel interval, and clay with thickness and arrangement varies. Found existence of relation between geometry characteristic (colour and grain size) and potency (magnetism degree, iron mineral grade, grade of Fe element, and resources) with geology process (system and location of deposition). Ironsand deposit shows average magnetism degree (MD) is 52 % with grade of Fe element ranges from 25,43% - 47,59% at highest MD value from each bore hole. Meanwhile, irondsand deposit in location of research has as of spread correction resources to reach 121,69 ha, ironsand resources 85,43 million tons, and magnetic mineral resources 43,85 million tons. text |
