Therefore, routing is vital on ad hoc network, especially <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> in dealing with a dynamic topology changes. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Ad Hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is one of the ad hoc network <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> routing protocol which kind of reactive protocol. AODV make the delivery of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> unicast RREP along reverse path. This delivery is due to the source node <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> broadcasts RREQ to the destination node as part of route discovery process. Due <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> to high node mobility, communication path especially the reverse path that is <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> formed can be broken at any time and consequently RREP will be failed reaching <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> the source node. In this study, the author makes modification to be broadcast <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> RREP towards the source node. In addition, AODV only provides one forward <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> route of data “message” to the destination node. If this path was broken, the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> source node should initialize a route discovery again. With broadcast RREP <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> method, some alternative route can be stored in routing table of source node. This <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> route can be used if main forward route break. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The performance comparison between AODV conventional and modification is <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> done by testing in several scenarios using NS2. Based on simulation result, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> AODV modification have end to end delay lower, high throughput of CBR and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> packet delivery ratio than AODV convensional.
