Summary: | Rotating machinery is critical component in production process. One of the rotating machinery problem is the centerline of the driver shaft does not coincide with
the centerline of the driven shaft. This problem is known as misalignment. Condition Based Maintenance can be used to detect failure caused by misalignment early. One of the methods is Operating Deflection Shape (ODS). This

method is based on measuring magnitude and phase at some points on structure. In this research, phase is get from keyphasor as signal reference. With processing data,

the deflection of those points is obtained. Data processing and ODS visualization are generated by using Mechanical Engineering Scope Visual Engineering Series 4.0 (ME’scopeVES 4.0) software.
This research is focused on ODS analysis at fixed coupling shaft that suffered parallel misalignment. Some parallel misalignment condition at horizontal direction is given so there will be some specifics deflection at the setup. Parallel misalignment has amplitude at 2xRPM higher than 1xRPM. So that in this research, there are comparison between shaft ODS at 1xRPM’s frequency and shaft ODS at 2xRPM’s frequency. One of the results is at 2xRPM’s frequency, the shape of the shaft between driven inboard bearing and driven coupling looks like a sinusoidal signal. Even though at 1xRPM’s frequency, the shape of the shaft between driven inboard bearing and driven coupling looks like a half sinusoidal signal. |
