Summary: | Market globalization and international competition, force companies to operate in the cross-cultural environment. This condition makes a lot of tribes and ethnics involved in that company. According to some researches, this situations can influence to leadership in the company. If the company want adapt their self in this kind of environment, they need a higher level of leadership than before. Chong (2007) thinks that the company who operate in cross-cultural environment, requires leaders who not only well informed of the transnational business environment but also competence in working with people from different cultures; need leaders that show inspiration, walk in the reality, have vision to communicated, give more attention to other people and open for any new ideas. Those leadership characteristics, much more like characteristic of transformational leadership. PT. LG Electronics Indonesia (LGEIN) chosen as a place to be researched because this company working in cross-cultural environment and have same background with this problem. Because of it, this research discuss about relationship between cross-cultural study with transformational leadership, it will be make into shape of model development that influenced by national culture of transformational leadership in PT. LG Electronics Indonesia. <br />

Model that used in this research are based on Hofstede cross-cultural model (2003) and Bass & Avolio transformational leadership model (2001). In this research, the indicator that used in the questionnaire are from elaborate process that refers on previous study. Total statement in this research are 37 items that are considered to represent the needs of this research to achieve the objectives of this research. <br />

This research use method of partial least square (PLS), with total sample are 44 respondents, which the respondent in this research are the leader that call foreign support employee (FSE) and local leader. The result from this research is cross-cultural study model that developed, positively influence transformational leadership model that developed, for FSE and local leader. This model expected can be guidance for LGEIN to see transformational leadership behavior in cross-cultural environment from FSE and local leader, so it can be used as a references for company progress. |
